One of my favorite albums (one of our family's favorite albums, honestly) is Will the Circle be Unbroken, by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, is celebrating it's 40th Anniversary this October. If you haven't heard it, you really must. It was one of the first albums that legitimately crossed the genres of folk and rock. Young upstarts like John McEuen, singing the music of the "old timers" (also featured on the album) Doc Watson, Mama Carter, and Earl Scruggs. Will the Circle Be Unbroken was a huge hit.
