One of these days I will get back to blogging regularly about Children's Literature. In the meantime:
Legends of Zita the Spacegirl, the second in Ben Hatke's Zita books, is being released in three short weeks! And Ben is hosting a giveaway. Check out his personal blog for details. You can pre-order the book here.
Today is the 100th Birthday of Julia Child. If you have a budding chef in your house, or perhaps a cat lovers, you'll want to pick up this adorable little book about Julia and Paul Child's cat Minette: Minette's Feast, by Susannah Reich and beautifully illustrated by Amy Bates.
I thoroughly enjoyed this little tribute to the wisdom if Children's literature written by Maria Konnikova in The Atlantic. Nothing new here, but delightful all the same. Plus it allows me to post this great Winnie the Pooh drawing. Oh, Tigger.
The kid-lit-blogger-extraordinairre Betsy Bird has worked with School Library Journal to create beautifully designed pdfs of the top 100 children's picture books and children's chapter books of all time. Find out how to get your copy here.
Jules has all the details.
Finally, the ever witty and wise Simcha Fischer takes a break from talking about well, everything imaginable, to talking about children's books about love. She's got some great one's in there, including The Clown of God by Tomie dePaola, pictured above.
