DC Event: Practical Femininity Conference

Just a quick little plug for the local DC gals: The Art of Being a Woman is a ministry exploring the trials, joys, and spirituality of being a single Christian woman.  They host conferences, and this Sunday will be their first of 2012. I went to the first half of their conference last year (I had to work that afternoon), and it was one of the most thought-provoking, powerful, and prayerful mornings I've had in a long long time.  These ladies really do a wonderful job; don't miss it!

Sunday, February 19th | 8 am to 5 pm
Georgetown Visitation

Mass and Holy Hour will be offer to those interested.

I. The Importance of Femininity: “Without the contribution of women, society is less alive, culture impoverished, and peace less stable. Situations where women are prevented from developing their full potential and from offering the wealth of their gifts should therefore be considered profoundly unjust, not only to women themselves but to society as a whole.” - Blessed John Paul II

II. Femininity in the Eyes of Our Father: “Women learn from their mothers what it means to be a woman and from their fathers the value that a woman has – the value they have as a woman.” - Staci Eldridge, Captivating

III. Battling Insecurities: “Insecurity robs a woman of the freedom and the deep joy that she is entitled to and which would otherwise transform the people and world around her.” - January Donovan, Leader of the Art of Being a Woman Core Team

IV. What to Look for in a Man: "When a man loves a woman, he has to become worthy of her. The higher her virtue, the more her character, the more devoted she is to truth, justice, goodness, the more a man has to aspire to be worthy of her." - Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

ps. I hope by the end of it I will actually be able to spell feminininininininity.
