We're Running out of Chocolate!

This last year I have tried--with limited success--to stop eating so much chocolate.  I found, after basically going cold turkey for about 3 months, that I really only crave the occasional candy bar.  Don't get me wrong: I love chocolate chip cookies, and brownies, and a really good chocolate cake.  But if I have to choose between a lemon bar and a brownie, I'll take the lemon bar, and if I have to choose between your average chocolate cake and basically anything involving fruit, I'll pick the fruit.  My dad is like this.  I used to think he was crazy, but I know better now.

The fact is, most chocolate desserts at shops and restaurants are mediocre, and homemade luxurious chocolate desserts are often time consuming and difficult.  But, after reading this (perhaps less than credible) report that THE WORLD IS RUNNING OUT OF CHOCOLATE, I am determined to make some of these chocolate desserts that I have had bookmarked for so long:

Chocolate Root-Beer Bundt is a chocolate cake even dad could love.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Pillows of awesomeness.

Sparkling Ginger Chocolate Cookies will be in heavy rotation for the Holidays

Chocolate Cream Pie is possibly my favorite dessert ever. I have been looking
for the perfect recipe for years. This is it: 9 eggs and 2 cups of cream!

Chocolate Orange Cheesecakes.  YES.
I've had this Chocolate Hazelnut Meringue bookmarked for 5 years.
Now that I've conquered meringues, I can make it!

Or, I could just make chocolate mousse...Someday I shall share the recipe with you.  It's the best.

I think I'll try the Chocolate Orange Cheesecakes. They sound do-able. I have yet to make a real cheesecake b/c I'm too scared, but these seem pretty foolproof! I had never had chocolate and orange until I lived in England. Love at first bite! I also had a carrot and orange soup there that I really liked. I don't know how that would go over in this house, though...

  3. Oh! You should try it! Sometimes kids like stuff for odd reasons, right? Like because it's orange! :)

I know what you mean about the chocolate and fruit! I love chocolate, but if you gave me a choice between chocolate cake and a fruit tart or even just berries and whipped cream, I'll take the fruit nine times out of ten.

On the other hand, I can't keep my hand out of the dish of leftover Halloween chocolate.
