I guess it's Capote Week at Ten Thousand Places, because I had to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the original printing of Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's. I won't wax poetic about it, except to reiterate what a unidentified gentleman told a tourist on the Queen Mary 2, "Forget about the movie, and read the book. It's the best thing Capote ever wrote." (as reported in today's USA Today)
I adore the movie, but the book is really magnificent. And all you guys out there reading this, don't let your judgement be clouded by the obvious romance of the film. Take a cue from George's unfortunate adventure in Seinfeld, and read the book. It's better than you think.
